Bible Search for Manners Lesson Summary
Courtesy Begins at Home
Prepare the students' folders with copies of the activity sheet. In a classroom setting, divide the number of students into groups so that they may learn by working together. Begin this study by telling the students they will be searching the Scripture to discover how God wants them to relate to Him and to one another.

Lead the discussion by asking: Have you ever thought of the Bible as a type of manners book? What are manners?  (The way you treat others, the respect you give.) What better place to look for answers than God's Word? As we search the Scriptures, I think we will come to a new understanding of the importance God places on kindness and consideration for others.

Do you think people in Bible times used good manners? Were manners important then? Allow time for the students to give their opinions. Certainly customs have changed through the years because needs have changed. For instance, society's newest set of rules is nicknamed netiquette. Do you know where these rules are used? (on the Internet) Using the Internet is a new way of communicating, so we need specific rules to help us relate to one another in this new way.
Whatever the customs of the time, God's rules will serve us well, so we need to know what the Bible says. It is the foundation for everything we learn.
Moses' Family
Courtesy begins at home, so let's begin our study by looking at the family of Moses, Miriam, and Aaron. Pass out the students' folders with copies of the "Moses' Family" activity sheet.
To consider if this family showed courtesy to one another, read the verses and discuss the answers with those in your group. Then fill in the answers on your activity sheet. If time is limited, assign two or three questions for different groups to answer.

After the students complete the activity sheets, ask them to share their answers during a class discussion. Refer to the answers on the next pages to lead the discussion.
